Dark clad energy centre with a steel stair to double doors, ball-stop fencing above, and a brick return at one end
The energy centre, on face-finished ground beams beside the sports hall.

The school is moving off gas-fired hot water onto a heating and domestic hot water system run primarily by air source heat pumps. The energy centre stands next to the sports hall: a secure compound for two heat pumps, and a building for heat storage, water treatment and controls. The gas boilers stay, as backup only.

The civil work is the platform it stands on. Reinforced concrete ground beams, face-finished, carry the centre and the compound. New pipework runs underground, and through the undercroft of the existing school, into the plant rooms of the old and new blocks. Heat and hot water had to stay on while that was done.
